Biography

Experience & Specialties

After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Masters in Clinical Social Work, I led parenting classes for Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN), taught Sociology at J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College, and worked with adolescents and families at the Virginia Home For Boys & Girls.  I moved to North Carolina where I had the honor of working with our Active Duty Military, Veterans, Reserve service members and their families for six years  at Ft Bragg, North Carolina and the Fayetteville VA Hospital.

For the past few years, I have been in private practice focusing on the most beneficial treatments for working with both adults and children, families, and military service members.  I specialize in helping those suffering from anxiety, trauma, depression, grief and loss.

In search for the most effective and fastest way to help others, my focus throughout my career has been on becoming highly trained and skilled in treatments that have a proven track record.  I look for and use treatments that have had extensive research, reports of success from colleagues and the achieved goals I have seen with my own clients.

My Approach for Wellness

I found and use the most powerful treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, which is Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE).  Trained by Dr. Edna Foa, the creator of PE and completing a six month PE program with the Veterans Affairs, I became highly skilled and advanced in PTSD treatment.

In recent years, out of a desire to get the same amazing results as I had seen with PE, I began to search for an equally effective treatment for anxiety, depression, and life stress.  I found Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to be this treatment.  ACT is gentle for the client and works quickly.  I am able to see a person completing therapy with life-long tools to reduce the need for additional treatment.  I sought training for ACT three years ago at University North Carolina Chapel Hill , a leading research facility.  I continue to strengthen my knowledge through direct practice and am in current training with the Tony Robbins-Cloe Madanes Strategic Intervention Program.

I am passionate about helping others overcome their wellness challenges and have been privileged to see such wonderful results in my clients.
